Frequently Asked Questions
Cubbies & Forts:
What timber do we use?
All of our manufactured products are made from non-arsenic based and environmentally friendly treated pine timber grown in Australian plantations. The wood is attractive, clean and safe to touch and has outstanding weather durability.
What are the benefits of staining?
Even though our products are extremely durable in their natural form, timber exposed to the weather, especially our harsh Australian climate, will eventually turn grey over time. With this in mind we provide a quality staining service. We use the best available stain on the market which enriches the colour of the timber and seals it from the elements.
Do the products come with instructions?
All cubbies, sheds and thatches come with professional installation DVD instructions. Or you can opt for a pdf version if requested. Does the kit come with screws? Yes all our kits come with galvanized screws and nails which prevent rusting and ensure longevity. How often do you need to re-stain? We would recommend re-staining your cubby anywhere between 3 - 5 years depending on how much exposure the timber receives from the elements. Do you offer a lay-by service? Yes we do offer a lay-by service for up to 3 months. A deposit of a minimum of 20% is required to place an order. Lay-by terms and conditions can be arranged at the time of purchase. Does the 1.5m elevation posts need to be dug into the ground? The 1.5m elevation kit (Package C) comes standard with extra timber paneling for the sandpit/storage. This means that there is no need to dig in or concrete the posts as the extra timber braces the structure. If you choose not to have the extra sandpit/storage, then we would recommend concreting the posts into the ground. How long does it take to put the cubbies together? A cubby on the ground takes approximately 1-2 hours when 2 of Aaron's experienced installers are assembling. An elevated cubby takes between 3-4 hours by 2 of our experienced installers.
Sheds & Studios:
Do I need a permit?
All our sheds in the shed range are under 10 internal squares and so therefore do not require a permit.
Do I need to level my area before installing my shed?
If you have purchased a package A then you will need to level the area before installation. If you have purchased a Package B which includes a sub-floor then levelling is not necessary. The sub-floor will support the shed 300mm from the ground and compensate for any fall of land.
Will my garden shed arrive already constructed?
Our sheds are delivered in flat packs with the wall, floor and roof panels pre-fabricated and ready for assembly. Being in kit form with simple instructions, our cubbies, forts and sheds are easy to assemble yourself and are fully relocatable. We also provide a professional and convenient delivery and installation service.
Do the sheds need a concrete base?
Our sheds do not require a concrete base as they have moisture resistant flooring and can be placed directly on the ground.
What is Sisolation Paper?
Sisolation paper is a foil insulation material which is placed on the insides of the walls and roof. It helps regulate moisture inside the shed and reduces summer heat gain and winter heat loss.
Are the sheds dimensions internal or external?
All our products are listed with internal measurements.
Do your products come with a warranty?
We are confident that our products, services and after sale support will meet and exceed your expectations. Any queries that may arise will be dealt with immediately.
Can you have more than one window in a Studio?
Yes you can opt to have an extra window, see our studio section on our website for pricing.
Whats the difference between Package B and Package C in the Studio Range?
Package B includes a Sub Floor and Package C includes both a Sub Floor and a Verandah.
What is included in the Sub Floor?
A Sub Floor includes 140mm x 35mm kiln dried bearers, 90mm x 90mm kiln dried stumps and 240mm x 45mm sole plates.
Thatches:
Are the thatches 100% waterproof?
We install both our Balinese and African Thatches to be 100% water tight. Accurate spacing and correct placing of the rafters is essential.
