Our thatches are durable and waterproof, but the length they will last will be dependent on the natural elements your thatch is exposed to on a daily basis. A general time will be around 5 years, but some will still be in great condition in 10+ years. You will most likely begin to see discoloration on the exterior of your thatching a year after installation.
Yes. The African tiles are 800mm x 450mm and the corner tiles are 400mm x 450mm. There is also a top cone to finish.
Without a deck, our thatches will need to be either concreted into the ground or bolted with stirrups to an existing slab. If you are choosing to add a deck, they can be freestanding.
Nice to know
Pure Cape Reed thatch tiles to give a formal & exotic, yet architectural look and feel.
Instantly create a stunning entertaining area for any size family or gathering. Our beautiful, natural African Cape Reed roof tiles are very aesthetically pleasing and allow air to flow through them, which will keep your entertainment area cooler in summer (up to 10 degrees) and warmer in winter, unlike a metal or ceramic tile roof. You can even wet the roof to give a more evaporative cooling effect. The airflow effect also helps avoid condensation from the steam from your spa – and Cape Reed is naturally rot and mildew resistant. Cape Reed is strong and mostly maintenance free – hence why African Thatches are popular even in the harshest of climates.
Aarons African Thatches come in a range of sizes and are completely waterproof. The 30 degree pitch roof ensures water slides right off your roof and away from your outdoor furniture or spa. Our solid timber frame structures will ensure longevity – choose from beautiful 3m long treated pine, 200mm perfect round posts or high quality square, cypress posts and you can further customise your thatch with a variety of options to make it unique to your needs. You can create your own tropical paradise with the help of Zip Money from as little as $57.00 per week*.
An African Thatch will turn any backyard into the perfect entertaining area. Add a deck and you’ll really be the envy of your family and friends. And don’t forget our ever popular African Umbrellas for pool side entertaining or a focal meeting point in your backyard. Cheers to that!
